Doctor – RMO (Resident Medical Officer)
Job Description
The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) is responsible for providing 24×7/shift-based medical care to patients, monitoring their clinical condition, handling emergencies, coordinating with consultants and ensuring proper documentation and continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
Examine patients and assess their medical condition.
Provide initial diagnosis, treatment and medical advice.
Monitor patients' vital signs and clinical progress.
Attend to medical emergencies and critical situations promptly.
Conduct rounds and follow up on admitted patients.
Administer and prescribe medicines as per hospital protocols and consultant instructions.
Coordinate with specialists, consultants, nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.
Assist in emergency procedures and basic life-support measures.
Review and interpret routine laboratory and diagnostic reports.
Maintain accurate patient records, case sheets, treatment notes and discharge documentation.
Ensure timely escalation of deteriorating patients to senior doctors/consultants.
Communicate with patients and their attendants regarding treatment and progress, as appropriate.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection-control practices and patient-safety standards.
Handle medico-legal documentation and reporting as required.
Provide proper handover to the incoming RMO/medical team at shift change.
