Fitter

Job Description

The Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining and repairing machinery, equipment and mechanical components while ensuring safe and efficient plant operations.

Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts and measurements.
Assemble, install and dismantle mechanical components and machinery.
Perform fitting, cutting, drilling, grinding, filing and alignment work.
Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of equipment.
Inspect machines and components for wear, damage and defects.
Replace bearings, shafts, couplings, gears, seals and other mechanical parts.
Perform machine alignment and ensure proper fitting of components.
Use hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments safely.
Assist maintenance engineers during machinery installation and repair.
Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in proper condition.
Follow safety procedures, PPE requirements and maintenance standards.
Record maintenance activities and report equipment abnormalities.
Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to minimize machine downtime.
Qualification
ITI – Fitter from a recognized institute.
NCVT/SCVT certification preferred.
2–5 years of relevant experience in industrial/mechanical maintenance preferred.
Fresh ITI candidates may also be considered for trainee positions.
Basic knowledge of mechanical tools, equipment and safety practices.
